New Breeding Partnership Forming

We recently purchased a young Lemon Drop Kid mare (Miss Hermes) in foal to Dialed In. Although unraced, she has been bred to quality Kentucky based stallions and her two foals have sold well as weanlings.

She is half sister to promising Laurel based 4 year old filly, Sweet Shugs (Practical Joke) who has shown speed in winning MSW at 4.5 furlongs and has just missed in allowance spots against older mares. There is real potential for her to provide nice updates to Miss Hermes's page.

The cross of Lemon Drop Kid and Yes It's True is a balance of speed and endurance that should allow us to go various directions in stallion matching in effort to produce versatile offspring.

Lemon Drop Kid has produced multiple G1 winners as a broodmare sire.

Sire of 547 dams of 2,237 named foals of racing age, 1,454 runners (64%), 992 winners (44%), 304 2yo winners (13%), 1.35 AEI, 1.3 CI; 67 stakes winners, Leading Earner: ($3,486,880).

The Plan

  • Drop her Dialed In foal in Maryland in April. Register foal as MD Bred

  • Sell '24 foal as a weanling at public auction this fall. This creates inbound cash flow, recouping some of the initial costs. Partners eligible for any breeder bonuses earned by that foal.

  • Immediately breed back to a Maryland based stallion.

  • '25 foal would be held by partnership until fall of its yearling year. At that point, the group will decide to:
  • Develop into racing under this partnership, sell to DH Racing LLC at fair value or sell at public auction
  • Regardless of decision, this partnership will remain "breeders" and have the rights to any breeder bonuses earned
  • Partner will have option to sell their partnership stake on December 1st of any year, for fair market value.
